Learning Enhancement

At VISS Al Taawun, we want every student to feel known, supported, and challenged. Our Learning Enhancement team works across three key areas: Inclusion, Intervention, and Gifted and Talented, delivered through our VISION enrichment program.

We follow UAE law and Ministry of Education expectations for inclusive education and equal access for Students of Determination. Support is always personalised and built in partnership with families, teachers, and specialists.

Care and Support

Every measure is taken to help students maximise their potential within the classroom, curriculum, and assessment framework. Where needed, the Learning Support team may provide in-class support, personalised programmes, modified curricula, alternative assessments, or an Individual Education Plan (IEP), always in partnership with families.
Our counselling team also offers play-based sessions, friendship support, and guidance for parents and teachers. All care and support programmes are adaptive, reviewed regularly, and provided as part of our standard school service.

Communication

Open and timely communication is central to every child’s success. Collaboration between staff, parents, and students ensures progress, trust, and sensitive handling of information.

Inclusion is part of who we are at VISS Al Taawun. We celebrate individuality and diversity, recognising the unique contribution each student makes to our community.

Using a graduated approach, targeted learning opportunities are programmed encouraging the development of students independence, curiosity and confidence whilst effectively meeting their diverse learning needs.

How Support Works

1. Identify
We review teacher observations, classwork, assessments, admission data, parent insights, and any external reports.

2. Plan
If support is needed, we set goals and agree strategies. Students of Determination have an Individual Learning Plan (ILP). Gifted and Talented students have an Advanced Learning Plan or enrichment plan.

3. Support
Support starts in the classroom with reasonable adjustments and targeted strategies. Small group or individual intervention is added if needed.

4. Review
Progress is reviewed every 6 to 10 weeks and plans are adjusted together with the family.

Inclusion

  • Reasonable adjustments to teaching, materials, environment, and assessment
  • Individual Learning Plans with clear goals and strategies

Key documents

VISS aligns with UAE law on inclusive education and emirate-level frameworks that emphasise early identification, equitable access, and family partnership.

Intervention

Purpose
Short-term, targeted teaching to close gaps in literacy, numeracy, language, or study skills.

Our graduated approach

  • Tier 1: Quality teaching for all – in-class adjustments, scaffolded tasks, feedback loops
  • Tier 2: Targeted small groups – four sessions per week with progress monitoring
  • Tier 3: Intensive support – one-to-one or very small groups, specialist oversight, and weekly monitoring

Programs and tools
We use a mix of teacher-designed interventions, assistive technology, and evidence-based programmes such as the MultiLit Reading Tutor for literacy, where appropriate.

Entry and exit

  • Entry is based on assessment data and teacher evidence
  • Exit occurs once progress is clear and strategies are handed back to the classroom teacher

Communication
Parents receive a short plan at the start, a midway check-in, and a summary with next steps at the end.

Counselling

At VISS Al Taawun, wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. Our counsellors provide a safe and respectful space where students can talk, problem solve, and build skills for school and life.
