MOE Subjects
In accordance with the Ministry of Education’s prescribed curriculum, Arabic Language, Islamic Studies, and Social and Moral Education are compulsory components of the VISS curriculum.
Arabic Language
- Regular Arabic Courses: Arabic is offered as a compulsory language up to Grade 12 for all native
- This is compulsory for all Arabic Native speakers up to Grade 12
- Special Arabic Courses: This course is for students who have never studied Arabic as a language.
- This subject is for those children who will study Arabic as a non-native speakers up to Grade 12
- All Arabic courses are taught using a similar range of engaging methods and strategies as used in other subjects
For successful Arabic language learning, teachers ensure the presence of these elements:
- Awareness of students’ levels of Arabic to ensure they get to the next level. The Ministry of Education has included levels in the Arabic Frameworks for both Arabic for Arabs and Arabic for non-Arabs curriculum.
- Interest and Motivation: Activities in class and outside class should encourage students to learn the Arabic language and understand the Arabic culture.
- Engagement: students are fully engaged in class discussions and activities and produce tasks that display their creativity and understanding.
- Reinforcement through revision, praise, assessment and feedback.
- Support of the students in terms of learning and well-being.
Arabic Language Is Delivered Through Two Different Curriculums:
Arabic for Arabs and Arabic for non-Arabs. We use the Ministry resources including textbooks, frameworks, assessment outline etc. We also comply to the Ministry requirements in terms of teaching time and interactions.
Arabic for Arabs
This program is for students who are registered in school with a passport from one of the 22 countries belonging to the Arab league. Arabic classes start in grade 1 with 6 interaction periods in primary school and continues with 4 in secondary school. In these interactions, teachers ensure their students develop the 4 skills of the language: Listening, reading, writing and speaking. They also include the grammatical rules of the language which includes also (Albalaghah). Students use standard textbooks provided by the Ministry of Education and additional resources as needed.
Arabic for non-Arabs
This program is for students whose passport is not belonging to the 22 countries of the Arab league. It is competency based approeach to teaching and learning as students develop the 4 skills of the language in addition to basic grammar. In addition to learning the language, students develop cultural understanding of the Arab culture.
Islamic Studies
Islamic Education is compulsory for all Muslim students. The teachers ensure that the students are grasping the knowledge of the Holy Quran, the prophets messages and the fundamental principles of being a good Muslim while learning the culture of the UAE. Islamic Education is taught in Arabic for Arab students and in English for students who don’t speak Arabic.

- Muslim parents have the choice to have their child attending 1 or 2 periods per week.
- We provide real life applications and engaging approach to the teaching of Islamic Education.
Social Studies & Moral Education
Social and Moral Education is taught to all students, both Arabic and non-Arabic speakers, following the Ministry of Education’s prescribed curriculum. It is compulsory up to Grade 9, after which Moral Education continues as a separate subject in Grades 10–12. The course supports students in understanding their society, culture, and values while preparing them to be responsible and engaged global citizens.
UAE National Agenda
In alignment with the UAE National Agenda and Vision, our teachers integrate cultural elements of the United Arab Emirates into daily learning experiences. This approach fosters students’ appreciation for, and understanding of, the values and national identity of the UAE. Each year, we proudly celebrate UAE National Day in November, reaffirming to our students the nation’s commitment, guided by its leadership, to preserving the unique culture and enduring values of the country.
