Music & Performing Arts

VISS offers a vibrant Performing Arts program, including Music and Drama, throughout Primary, Middle, and Senior School. All students engage in Performing Arts through Grade 8, with elective pathways available from Grade 9.

VISS Music Academy

Through our Co-curriculum programme, we offer our Primary, Middle, and Secondary School students an opportunity to develop and enjoy their musicality beyond the classroom with individual lessons taught by qualified specialist tutors. To sign up for the VISS Music Academy, please complete the form here, and we’ll get back to you within two days with further information.

Grade 6 Band Program

The Grade 6 Wind Band, one of VISS’s signature programs, opens a year-long pathway for every student to learn and maintain a wind instrument. Students experiment with instruments, compose, build listening and analysis skills, and rehearse and perform as a team throughout the year.

Co-Curricular Music and Performing Arts

At VISS, a range of co-curricular music and performing arts ensembles and clubs welcome students of all backgrounds and skill levels. Our Primary and Secondary musical productions, featuring acclaimed works from popular global musical theatre, are annual highlights that thrill both the cast and the audience alike. The VISS vocal group rehearses regularly and performs both on campus and at external events. Other clubs, including the Grade 6 Wind Band, Music Studio, and Lunchtime Practice, provide every student with opportunities to create, collaborate, and express themselves through the performing arts.

Why should my child learn to play an instrument?

Playing an instrument is like a full-body workout for your brain. Two decades of research show that regular, disciplined practice doesn’t just make better musicians; it builds better thinkers and teammates. Students who learn an instrument typically:

    • Boost overall cognitive capacity
    • Strengthen executive functions (memory, attention, self-control)
    • Develop discipline through focused practice and active listening

    • Collaborate more effectively with peers
    • Tackle problems with greater creativity
    • Master a challenging new skill
    • Find proactive outlets for expression and originality
