Why VISS

From the executive principal to the classroom assistants, all our staff are highly qualified teaching faculty consists of professionals who are predominantly from Australia and carefully chosen to ensure the students of VISS receive the best of all-round education.

All staff who teach the IB Diploma have additional IB approved qualifications.  

All teachers have been carefully selected, ensuring their commitment to providing quality, innovative education and based on their qualifications and in accordance with the UAE Ministry of Education requirements.

Our teachers take an active interest in constant personal growth and are encouraged to enhance their skills and qualifications through active involvement in professional development programs.

The teachers are also involved in the co-curricular program, cultural activities enabling them to understand and support the students even more.

At VISS, we believe every detail counts, our unique an innovative and specially designed campus is home to three independent schools located on the same site to allow for the three phases of learning. These include and Early Learning Centre, a Primary school and a Secondary school all with spacious well equipped modern classrooms and latest technologies. Beyond the classroom we have many shared facilities across the school that support and facilitate our learning programmes.

Adapting the best of Australian and international education, our innovative and engaging syllabus is based on core frameworks taught in Australia as well as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program.

The curriculum content is delivered by challenging and stimulating learning methods that are especially tailored to develop lifelong learners and global citizens.

Our youngest learners in the Early Learning Centre (Pre-KG and KG) are introduced to the Victorian  Early Years Learning and Development Framework. Our primary and secondary students from Grade Prep-10 follows the newly revised Australian curriculum (Victorian). Our senior students in grades 11 and 12 are offered either the world-class and globally renowned International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, or the fully accredited VISS Global Citizen Diploma.

Overall, the curriculum at Victoria International School of Sharjah is geared towards developing our children into well-informed, keen, critical thinkers who achieve their full potential intellectually, creatively, physically and emotionally.

In 2018 VISS officially opened the first “VISS innovation centre”. This centre is a dedicated learning space for Innovation education. We have also opened a STEM lab in our Primary school.

VISS is widely recognised in the Northern Emirates and indeed the region as a school that is dedicated and leading in education innovation. Our students enjoy innovation as part of their classroom learning, with many students choosing to study as an extracurricular activity in senior years.

We continue to develop and expand on the inclusion of Innovative learning incorporating STEM, robotics and Digital technologies into our curriculum. We host regular events on campus and have established strong collaborative relationships with a number of outside bodies to enhance innovation in education in the region.

VISS has an exceptional IT infrastructure and capacity.

All students at VISS participate in the local and wider community through various opportunities, such as supporting the Student representative council (SRC) n charity fundraising, working with our partner charity organisation “the Big Heart” in UAE and “The Fred Hollows Foundation from Australia”.

The school hosts annual events such as National Day, Pink Day, Flag Day, Australia day. Book character day, music and dance concerts, plus more bi-annually we celebrate Diversity with our “VISS international Day”.

The VISS Parents body are actively involved in many of our events and work tirelessly to support the students and the school in many of these events as well as parent information sessions, workshops and coffee mornings.

The school encourages all students to be involved in these activities, either as individuals or as part of a team and so enhance their personal and interpersonal development, as well as their social and civic contribution.
